The Gourmet Club travels to fine restaurants around the area on the second Tuesday evening of each month.  Sometimes the group rents a Leisure World bus and other times participants carpool to the selected destination.  The “club” is open to all residents who are interested in fellowship and excellent meals.  Signup sheets are placed on the mailroom table before the outing and menus are posted on the bulletin board by the Management Office.

La Pergola Luncheons

Luncheons are organized for Potomac Ridge residents at the La Pergola restaurant on the third Friday of each month at 12:30 PM.  If 10 - 14 residents sign up, the private room will be reserved for the luncheon.  Attendees may order from the menu and will be billed individually.  Look for a signup sheet on the mailroom table.

Red Hats Club (Potomac Ridge Ladies of Leisure)

The Red Hats Ladies of Leisure are post-50 year olds dedicated to fun and friendship.  Members try to have at least one activity each month.  These activities include a wide variety such as luncheons, teas, touring and other special events.

Members wear purple, the color of royalty, with red hats, and have a whee of a time. The society's only rule is that there are no rules.  It is an organization that encourages women to have fun, support each other and find kindred spirits.  The message of Red Hatters is get together, put on your purple clothes and your red hat, ride a carousel, have your toe nails painted lime green, say no and don't feel guilty, run through the sprinklers in your purple bathing suit - just be yourself and recapture what it felt like to be a little girl, and a little bit irresponsible.

Lecture/Luncheons

A lecture/luncheon is usually held every other month.  Guest speakers from the surrounding community are invited to Potomac Ridge to present lectures on diverse subjects of interest.  A light lunch is also served for a nominal price.  A signup sheet will be on the mailroom table when luncheons are scheduled.

Theater Group

The Theater Group subscribes annually to the Reston Players’ four presentations.  These performances are held on weekends only (Friday/Saturday) with occasional Sunday matinees.  Residents form carpools to attend theater productions, as well as dinner before/after the performance.  Once the season begins, a waiting list is available for substitutes for subscribers unable to attend a performance.

Travel Club

The Travel Club is a group of residents who get together to plan trips through a travel agency.  Travels have included both land tours and cruises to such places as Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Canadian Rockies, Caribbean, Holland, Belgium, Italy and Costa del Sol, Spain.  Watch for notices of trips well in advance of anticipated travel.

Walking Group

Interested in walking?  Join this informal group meets in the lobby for a 7:00 AM departure.  The daily walk is about 45 minutes at a steady pace.  The group (whomever shows up) goes from Leisure World to Woodridge to Riverside, past the hospital to Lansdowne Boulevard and back to Leisure World.  In the event of inclement weather, the group walks the halls of Potomac Ridge.
